Large Antique Kohistan Hood (Natiyo)
Very rare Kohistan Hood (Natiyo) from Pakistan.
Antique Silk and cotton embroidery with beads and coins.
Worn by children in the mountainous region of Kohistan as protection from the harsh climate and also from the spirit world. The buttons and amulets serve to keep the child safe from sickness and harm and the embroidered “tree of life” motif symbolizes rebirth and longevity.
